Looking For A Festival Stage Hire Company With A Proven Track Record? Keep Reading About The Staging Services Available

Growing and developing a band is a huge undertaking. While producing music that will hit must  have to be the prime focus, it will not be the only factor that demands attention and effort in gaining traction to the music industry.

Staging your gig, especially if it is going to be your debut performance, must have tedious and careful planning in order for  you to wow your audience and gain re-attendees in your future concerts. While a  lot of otherwise new and emerging bands in the scene would opt to personally stage their own gig to cut cost, there will be a greater risk of maybe a technical issue along the performance and worse, the overall success of the band will be put at risk.

This is where The Sound & Light Hire Company comes in.

We are a professional events production hire service that has helped produce successful concerts and live performances for various bands across Surrey, Hampshire and London. We have a full-gear of staging equipment particularly configured for a band concert event. With our qualified sound and light engineers and events personnel working in our team, we make sure that every detail of your live performance is in place and ready to put on a show! When you turn to a credible full-service event hire company like us, you get every bit of professional help to put on a stellar show.

In this blog post, we have put together some guidelines and  key points you need to know as a band when it comes to setting up your stage for your next gig! For a complete list of the event equipment and services we offer for a mobile stage setting, go to https://www.truesoundhire.co.uk/hire-packages/category/dj-equipment-hire-packages/band-staging-hire-package/

Before jumping into planning your stage design, you must first finalize your location. Is it an indoor or outdoor venue? How large is your expected audience? And so on. Knowing the type of place you will be putting your structure on will allow your event staging hire to determine how large of a space they will be working with and the lay-out they will need to customize for your event (i.e., where the stage will be facing.) By knowing the location first, this will also prepare us to secure the type of materials required to ensure  a solid and sturdy platform that will be able to support the setup and the number of musicians estimated to be on stage. This factor is really important as we always want to prioritize the safety of the performers and avoid any liability during the entire duration of the event.

The Sound and Light Hire Company offers flexible staging packages for all types of concert locations and sizes requirements.

Starting from a stage setup that is 6 meters wide by 4 meters deep and with a height from 40 cm to 60 cm. All our setup are fully-equipped with handrails, steps and legs.

Moreover, if you are planning to do an outdoor concert, we can also put up an outdoor covered stage for you. This type of stage is relatively bigger (8 meters by 6 meters) as it is perfect for an audience ranging from 1000-4000 people. This comes with a ground based truss system with a roof covering for this bandstand and is available at a starting rate of £499.00 only. For larger outdoor covered festival stages please see Outdoor Stages who are based in the UK as well

Another valuable reason why it is important to hire a professional events production company is that they can essentially help you with the acoustics of your venue. They have the knowledge and years of experience to provide you with advice on what suits perfectly for your performance. The staging layout will also be in a way in such the band can perfectly hear themselves play, paving the way for a great and successful show. They are also fully aware that an indoor venue location may produce a better sound quality and an outdoor setup, on the other hand, may require multiple and special PA systems that will result to a top-quality sound output giving your audience a remarkable concert experience and leaving a lasting impression from your performance. Having a team you can fully trust that will run the technical aspect of your show contributes greatly in the success of your gig since you cannot do this on your own while you are due on stage to perform.

In addition, when you choose a full-service events production hire,

it will practically help you save money, time and effort looking from one firm to another for some specific demands of your concert performance. Because aside from the staging service, you would also need a PA system that will meet the  requirements of your chosen venue location.

This does not only mean an audio equipment, but entails a complete sound setup from monitor systems, power amps, mixing desks, microphones operated by a professional sound engineer which The Sound & Light Hire Company specializes in. Our equipment are branded and well-maintained to ensure we deliver premium event production services across Surrey, Hampshire and London. Event Planning Tips & Tricks To Help Your Event Run Smoothly

Being in the events industry is cut-throat and demanding. And as an event creator, you have to think smart and execute fast when it comes to just about every detail from the event planning down to the actual day of the event. It is also with the greatest significance to keep up with the latest trends and emerging technology to get you ahead in the business.

And while you have everything ironed out during the process of your planning, the odds are there will still be unforeseen hiccups along the way no matter how prepared you and your team are. It could be something as minor as the balloons being delivered late or perhaps something much bigger and worse like a technical issue with your lighting setup. We never know. These incidents are sometimes inevitable but when you work with people that are well-experienced and efficient in what they do, any hurdle can be rectified no matter how small or big.

The Sound & Light Hire Company has been in the events industry for more than two decades and counting and have worked with top-tiered event organisers producing astounding events of all types across Surrey, Guildford and Berkshire. Our company is acknowledged in the industry for supplying a complete range of event equipment hire and not to mention our competitive rate of every package we offer that will surely be worth every penny.

If you are an event organiser yourself or someone who works in an events production team, keep reading and let us know if some of the things we will discuss are familiar or relatable. In this blog post, we have consolidated some common elements event planners tend to miss out on and how to utilise them to their full capacity in the future.

Putting on duplicate and redundant event themes

One of the main responsibilities of an event creator is to come up with a creative theme that will match their client’s taste and style. Producing identical, repeated events is a common mistake most event organisers tend to commit without even realising it. While it may be convenient and safe to run recurring themes and set designs, your reputation as a creator will be at risk. You don’t want to be labelled as boring and monotonous, right? Every event you want your clients and their guests or attendees to have a unique experience. And this is a constant challenge for event organisers to add a touch of distinctive element that will set it apart from the rest of the events ever produced.

Believe it or not, there are actually a lot of ways to make every event exciting and special. You can change-up and mix different elements that will make each of it remarkable. You may opt for a convenient child care section for a wedding event, you may also have a celebrity appearance for a gala night, or work with an event production company that will take care of every aspect of the event space and utilise new technology to bring the event to life.

That’s when The Sound & Light Hire Company comes in. Having us in your team can take off a huge burden on your end as we will bring in premium event equipment that will complete your entire setup. We have a wide array of lighting fixtures from LED uplighters, disco lighting effects, high-end intelligent DMX moving head fixtures among others https://www.truesoundhire.co.uk/lighting-hire/. You may also entrust your PA System to us as we can gauge the type of sound system needed for your event taking into consideration the number of attendees and the size and shape of the venue location. We offer a complete range of party equipment and have highly-experienced sound and light engineers working for us. To get to know more about our credentials, check out https://www.truesoundhire.co.uk/ for more details.

Having a good set of AV Equipment are undervalued

Most event organizers who are not well-versed in the emerging technology may think that all types of AV equipment produce the same high-end quality they require for the event.  But good event organizers are well aware that they can never achieve their desired outcome if they resort to DIY or trust it in the venue’s in-house sound and visual system. A good quality AV system ensures your client that they deliver the message across their attendees and at the same time too, effectively stimulate the  attendees in any event whether in a birthday celebration, a wedding or a conference . The Sound & Light Hire Company offers a wide array of AV equipment from backline equipment hire packages, live mixing desks down to the basic microphones and amplifiers.

Event production companies that specialize in AV equipment and services are extremely helpful on hybrid or live streaming events & The London based production company On Tour Events can provide the technical audio visual services required for your conference or streaming event..

Post-event meeting

And lastly, following up on your clients and attendees after the event has taken place. Many event organizers usually discontinue communicating with their clients after the event has ended. They must realize that following up on their clients and holding a post-event meeting is essential in  the improvement of their services and knowing which part of it needs to be improved. This will serve as your survey. Ask questions that will help your company grow and improve on the future events. More so, this will keep a good working relationship with your clients and will potentially allow you to be rehired in the future.

If you are a thriving event organizer, The Sound & Light Hire Company is your perfect partner in making your upcoming events a success! We are a full-service event production company that provides customizable and flexible packages that will suit every client’s requirements. Choosing The Best Wedding Lighting Production Company & Why It Matters

The Sound & Light Hire Company Logo

The Sound & Light Hire Company Logo

There are tons of ways to light up your special day, from setting the mood, ambiance, tone, and telling your story towards the end. These varieties are essential elements in achieving that picture perfect moment and flattering event. There are a lot of wedding lighting advantages that you should know and why you should choose the best lighting production company that suits your taste and style. No matter what type of wedding you decide on, whether this is at the beach, a backyard setting, or indoors, your chosen event production company should be able to adjust and supply your desired theme and make sure they have years of experience in the business.

The Sound & Light Hire Company is London, Surrey and Guildford’s most trusted sound and lighting hire company offering a full range of event equipment services that will surely meet your wedding requirements.

We have listed down some reasons as to why a dependable and perfect lighting that will match your theme is essential and why you should choose a top-quality service lighting production company:

Lighting helps in setting the mood

Given that documenting your most special day is top priority, getting that vital touch for your wedding theme should also be written on top of your list! If you want a dramatic wedding scene, warmer tones may be used. If you want a bright yet cinematic mood, you can adjust up your lighting to your desired liking. But natural light alone won’t help you achieve and set up that ambiance. Adjusting these settings on the spot would still be possible with the help of a reliable team of technical lighting engineers.

Note that some people may think that event lighting only matters on finished productions such as digital photos and videos. However, sometimes weddings get emotional or really bright and people’s emotions connect with what surrounds them and lighting surely brings out the desired mood and help touch people’s emotions. It makes a huge difference on the overall ambiance of your wedding.

Lighting as a great story teller

Same-day-edits for wedding videos are common today. Your photographers and videographers would absolutely prefer on point lighting to capture the best moments. Lighting is a very crucial detail in taking good photos and videos. When you want your shot to speak and story-tell, lighting plays a subtle yet powerful role. Poor lighting can easily distract your audience by missing some important points and angles throughout your shots.

We take pride in the events we have produced over the years, not just on weddings  but on any type of event such as company conferences, music festivals, live streaming events and many more. Being in the business for more than 10 years now, The Sound & Light Hire Company is a trusted event equipment supplier with an in-house inventory of not just sound and lighting but acquires the latest white LED dance floor, AV projectors and even special effects equipment. Here are the detailed services we offer that will definitely add life to your next event https://www.truesoundhire.co.uk/event-production-services/

Technicalities with Lighting

Different terms have been going around within the lighting industry which you may or may not have heard of. Terms for LED lights such as beam lights and wash lights are common in wedding lighting production. Both types have different stroke emissions which give off a whole different vibe separately. A beam light will be more like a straight column of light that might appear sharper, while a wash will have more spread and is more subtle. Even these tiniest details have major impact in setting the tone of the outcome. There may be no rule as to which is best to use because it all depends on the setting you wish to achieve. Another technical aspect worth considering is water proof lighting. This is really important for outdoor settings. Don’t hire a company that can’t provide you with waterproof lighting. Sudden weather changes cannot be avoided that is why it is best to be prepared rather than scrambling down to gather the equipment to avoid possible disaster during your event.

Lastly, you may also consider your hired event production company’s RGB LED. LEDs use red, blue and green in order to mix to millions of different colors. RGB LEDs work fine to mix too many colors, but do not have a lot of control over hue. Today, RGBW works better compared to RGB LEDs. With the addition of white LEDs, it gives far more color control, and makes achieving brilliant pastels a viable option. The white LEDs also help to bridge the spectrum gap between colors, making a far larger variety of colors possible.

Furthermore, if you wish to make your wedding a little extra than usual, The Sound & Light Hire Company also offers not just LED uplighting but laser lights as well. And to top it all off, we also stock top of the line DJ equipment for DJ’s from Pioneer CDJ’s, Allen & Heath Mixers to Mackie monitors that will definitely make your wedding more memorable.

Choosing the best lighting production company

A list of considerable facts should be put into mind in choosing the best lighting production company for your wedding. Choose a company that is flexible and can meet any client’s request. Make sure they offer a variety of high-operating equipment and up-to-date technology. Convenience should be considered as well. You would want to hire those who can pick up, deliver and set up for you in no time. Ensure that they offer a reasonable and satisfactory rate. With the above given technicalities, be mindful of the specifics included and be ready to choose the production team that would willingly adjust to your taste!

You can find all these top-tier lighting production qualities from London and Surrey’s most trusted sound and lighting hire company. Here, we provide complete lighting and sound packages best for weddings and any other occasion. All you need to do is put your worries aside because we got you covered! Call us today and let’s make your dream wedding come to life.

Audio Visual Equipment

Audio Visual equipment & event services is what we offer here at The Sound & Light Hire Company

We have been working in events for over 15 years & our hire services include PA equipment, lighting for all events small for large, custom staging & we offer some amazing deals on indoor & outdoor LED screens.Today in this blog post we are going to talk about conference & sound equipment at these conference alongside other event tips & tricks to keep you thinking on… So lets start!

There are plenty of ways to keep the attention of your conference or event attendees engaged, but one of the most important ones is being the ability to retain and expand their interest during the event. having the best speakers to participate? Giving it all you’ve got? I just wanted to make sure they were well-fed and cared for, too Is there something you are more attractive than being able to socialise with others and raise money at the same time?
This is to be expected: meeting and convention planners want to take proper care of the essential stakeholders. These are constituents of utmost importance and you’re also not surprised that meeting and event organisers are thoughtful about serving them.

With respect to their overall value, however, one may conclude that they have failed to provide for both audio-visual usability. Your audience will lose interest easily if they can’t see or understand what you’re saying, so you should keep your presentation simple and to the point. There is nothing worse than having to listen to someone’s speech interrupted because of microphone interference or not being able to understand them because of language difficulties. Similarly, if you’re attempting to see a diagram on the screen and there is low visibility, the layout will impede the audience’s ability to take in so make sure you hire a small pitch LED screen like our 3.9mm indoor LED screen system, perfect for conference & indoor events. The Sound & Light Hire Company also work with London’s leading production company On Tour Events & have access to the huge stock of outdoor 3.9mm LED video wall they stock, as they are only down the road in London we are able to offer this outdoor screen at amazing rates – If you require outdoor screen for your summer event, let us know!

Professional Audio Visual Hire Services From The Sound & Light hire Company

Avoiding these issues is straightforward. One of the major preparations you need to make for audiovisual coverage is to be done well before the case, which is to make adjustments to the sound elements well in advance. If you would like to get more details about an event’s audiences, talk to your doctor’s office. They need to know the expected attendance figures, size of the location, and what sort of service you want to offer. Information regarding travel itinerary adjustments, such as conferences held in other countries or worldwide ties, including the language they are conducted in, should be added to the meeting criteria if they are required. All event participants should be given the opportunity to make a thorough tour of the grounds and halls of the convention centre. Make sure you get the proper equipment for the task and consider whether to operate it yourself or to use AV service like ourselves here at The Sound & Light Hire Company in Guildford, Surrey.

Specialist AV technicians are required to remove all of the dangers, since all audio/video equipment is complex and will eventually generate difficulties. Having extra medical supplies on hand will allow them to respond quickly if there are any problems, especially to unexpected injuries The AV technician will be able to face a nasty and strange problems in advance of the conference even though they are invented before the conference organiser discovers them!

I think the general public thinks it would be perfect with any subsequent events because they met all of their needs with this one, boosting their loyalty and helping keep the attendance rate of future events.

When choosing a job, companies to work for, it is critical to choose one that provides an appropriate and expansive environment for development. There are several types of machinery and methods used in manufacturing, which means you would have to be an expert in them to get the job done correctly.

What you are missing is much more is a matter of connecting various pieces of equipment, such as a monitor, a display unit, and some lighting. As the saying goes, activities of every kind call to action or sort, whether it’s a fashion show, music festival, or business conference, warrant high levels of professionalism and performance. With a properly equipped technical director, this is where the technology experience and expertise of the AV specialist can be useful. Their expertise is derived from years of managing such venues and equipment, and relationships with various organisations are the reasons that they have sound knowledge of the subject matter.

Custom Stage Sets To Lighting & Sound Production

It’s not enough to simply list the equipment required for the case, you have to explain the function that is to be done with it. Many people believe that incorporating the new and greatest technologies in your project would give you the greatest value. The truth is that things don’t always go as you think they will. Discussing technical problems with your audio visual support specialist could lead to revealing a possible flaw in a certain type of equipment. It is easier to select alternative solutions that are better tailored to your needs. To be more or less, this is where the AV professional shines. They have experience with the equipment and are fully knowledgeable about it. Through looking at the various venues, the AV project manager will be able to give you advice about where you may want to stage your presentation and get you all of your AV units into clear sightlines, If its a conference stage or lighting The Sound & Light Hire Company can help, we are only 30 mins from London, 15 mins from Hampshire as we are based in the heart of Guildford in Surrey

Reliability would be a fundamental to their work, because they can only supply quality goods that have been kept in high-quality and accepted by the world. there will be technicians on hand to support them on the day of the event that will assist with possible issues In addition to this, they possess skills and abilities that enable them to run events smoothly, so much experience and competence that no issues arise to the customers’ perceptions. And if they do, it is either identified and remedied or resolved quickly and easily.

Event Lighting & How Lighting Can Transform Your Party

Event Lighting & How Lighting Can Transform Your Party

It is always possible to underestimate the role of lighting in a case. When done correctly, the way a space is absolutely transformed can be one of the most efficient methods. It will help create a lot greater mood than any amount of thematic props or table decorations.

Here are a few examples of how the multiple lighting should be used to build the wow factor that the participants deserve!

Up lightning lights may be used to cast colour splashes around an area. They can be used to illustrate the main characteristics of a room you like, while cleverly distracting the eyes from those which might not be so visually attractive. In this case the light uplights were used to look at the incredible architectural features of this amazing structure in the glorious room of the Natural History Museum.

Decor for Light Up

Lighting is becoming more and more common, particularly with light-up letters, as seen above. In this case, the letters offered the participants a great photo opportunity to document the experience and to be a true focal point on the exhibition floor. They deliver a comparatively cheap means of displaying your brand or main message which is also spread across all social media channels.

Lighting For Your Event

Event lighting doesn’t necessarily require light bulbs, lamps and unstable floor lights, which all come with wires you choose to mix into the background. There are now lots of ways to display the lighting’s fixtures and fittings! A few examples of lighting that needs to be central are fairy lamps, Edison light bulbs and neon icons and words. Here, the flickering fairy lights produce an almost surreal look and change what is only a bare, boring barn. This kind of lighting would be ideal for a wedding breakfast in combination with long trestle table tables, rustic flowers and the antique dressings. Make sure you check out the new disco lighting hire package on the website, we have spend a long time making sure we get this right!

Wireless Uplighting & Mood Lighting

Color has an immense effect on your mood and will quickly give your attendants the impression they want to share. Lighting will almost immediately change the colour of a room. As you can see in the photographs above, the orange environment works to close the room, warm it up and make it feel smaller and more intimate. In contrast, the cool blue colour options on the right side make it look bigger, opener, and even more clinical.
Developing an illumination strategy, think of where you want the main lighting points and which areas of atmosphere and lighting are of the utmost importance. You must realise where this is happening.

A visit to the site is advised in order to get an understanding of the scale of the location where light fixtures may need to be installed, what the site rules with respect to wall fixings or floors, and where the power points lie.

Event Lighting Tip : Understand what equipment you need

In general, most new lighting systems are LED, but some venues do have installed lighting systems. Your lighting kit consists of a variety of lighting equipment, including disco lights, uplighting lights and other equipment which transforms even the blandest party site in combination with a lighting designer.

Event Lighting: Spotlights & wedding pin spotting

Obviously, if you run conferences and seminars, the emphasis is on the stage, and it should be lit appropriately. Venues often have their own basic lighting systems, but in order to add a professional look and atmosphere to your event, ensure that all speakers are appropriately lit on stage with spots and that the audience space is darker and more ambient.

Make sure the plenary room is coloured in a way that does not impact presentations on the stage – Congo Blue is also an outstanding choice here. However, if they wish, you will have to adjust the lighting standard for the public to write notes.

Conference Stage Lighting

Use of the stage or colour
Wash lighting is used to flood a room with colour and illumination. It can be used on a stage to illuminate the area. It can also be used in an environment you wish to showcase if you have an exhibit room. Color cleansing will echo your colours or simply be a simple white light.

Lighting Event Tip for your event uplighters:
Uplights are earth-based lights that allow the illumination of certain characteristics such as banners or signs. Again, in various colour combos they can be very easily used to bring more excitement to a case.

Modern lights are operated by batteries, which eliminate cable or trip risk concerns. This ensures they will be used in environments which were not available or known to be hazardous for older wired fixtures for as long as this is secure.

Of course, you must still make sure both devices are put in a sensitive protected location, wireless or otherwise, as part of your schedule.

Lighting effects of Gobos

If at the next business function you just want to take advantage of lighting, think about the consequences that an audience may have.

Gobos are lights which can stream into your event area with your company logo or patterned designs. Gobos may either be static or mobile or fade in and out. You may use gobos to projecte light patterns to the ceiling to produce a surreal feeling inside a room if you are having an evening drinks event.

You may also literally take the logo and project it onto the venue walls, or the hashtag of the event. You can do this by using moving gobos if you want to make a light display.

Enjoy the colours of the lighting

You don’t have to be plain white for your lighting. It can easily represent your business and brand name. Color also enables you to build various areas inside the event room and it is nice to help visitors locate the location they need.

To welcome a friend to the ‘Green Zone’ for networking purposes is even better than to ask him to obey the signals. Create dramatic messages with a cued lighting that captures the attention of the public and gives them a sense of excitement.

Lighting Tip: Lighting from day to night

Colored lighting will really make a space feel like an environment. To set the mood for each event section, you use multiple coloured lights and colour washes and transition the illumination effects from day to night if the guests remain on for drinks and networking.

Event Lighting Tip: Lighting in event lighting & TV filming

If you capture or live stream the day’s case, it’s worth checking that the lighting people communicate with their lighting specifications for filming with videographers.

You would want to make sure you record the incident well and that no dark spots are noticed when you see the video. This will entail some modifications to the initial design to ensure that the specifications are fulfilled as well.

Smart lighting

If you use an adaptive lighting system to change the lighting accordingly, all the event lighting will be preprogrammed. It allows the lighting to easily adjust during the case, allowing the day to flow smoothly.

Lighting Tip Event: Use light and sound

It is very easy to connect the sound and light systems together so that they can ‘speak’ to one another if you schedule an experiential experience, and choose to do a little bit more.

For instance, you can capture, process and output a basic hashtag tweeted by someone at an event in the form of a siren or you can use a sound alarm to begin playing the video.

You should also use music associated with the lighting by changing the lighting from white to green. The versatility to allow these structures to speak to each other will lead to any event being engaging and forward-looking.

Project mapping Event Lighting Tip

A more and more interesting idea is projection mapping with a truly modern feel, to get the event to the next level.

In other words, take a simple 3D model and project live animation and gestures onto the top, bring it to life and add the wow factor to a launch or presentation.

Projection mapping of things like vehicles where you can deploy a new electric car, or something similar, is increasingly common. The specification is the true secret to projection visualisation.

The time required to prepare and draw up the map would contribute to unbelievable results. Know that you must get the majority of the lighting in the first place to make the full use of projection visualisation.

The lighting of events is a major part of the location

Good event lighting can be set up to any budget – consider first, speak to the location and get guidance from an event manager and lighting designer. Share the thoughts with a specialist and you can discover that your visitors will be delighted with even the simplest lighting solutions, if they do well.

Most People Buy Lighting For Weddings?

Newlyweds are often shocked by the cost of wedding ceremony lighting. Would you like to do it? Regardless of whether you’re going through financial hardship or not, you must still spend money on your flowers and/or on nice stationary, or they won’t be happy. There are times when only one or two types of lighting are required. An inexpensive single-purpose feature, such as uplighting or a small bistro is probably your best bet. It will add a stunning glow and light for your guests to the room. We usually recommend that couples spend between £2,000 and £3,000 on a small event. A small bistro lighting will suffice for your wedding that is held inside a 40 x 60 foot tent. At around £2,000 to £3,500 for a mid-sized, multi-featured wedding. This describes most of the weddings. The costs of large and lengthy events vary greatly, so don’t expect to know the exact price during the early stages of the planning process.

What Does Lighting Wedding Lighting Cost

The pin-spots draw attention to the lovely centrepiece of your wedding decor.

Doing the most with your money

More venues and DJs are willing to give reasonable discounts to couples for lighting. These prices are usually attractive, but there are a few things to consider. Many £1,000 and £2,000 venue and DJ lights are available for individual and group rental. Often, you’s get a lower price with a reduced quality. While the lighting in this room is of questionable quality, there are numerous issues with it. Red, Green, and Blue light LEDs also come from various sources. this influences the colour of the lights A lot of shows use images of lighting that are part of a professional lighting programmes and advertise that as such. Many would edit the images heavily in order to make them look better.

In addition, skilled lighting companies utilise higher-quality equipment for various environments. More often than not, you will get uplighting from a DJ that is not a high-quality. There is no reason to believe that lighting should be any different. The question has to be asked: look at it this way: A lower-priced catering option can be found at a fast food establishment. That and what you would expect from a luxury caterer is the same, but what you can get from a high-end caterer is different

What Is A Preamp & What Does A Preamp Do?

The Sound & Light Hire Company Logo

The Sound & Light Hire Company Logo

Hey guys, girls This is Peter at The Sound & Light Hire Company in Surrey.

In this article, we’ll be talking about preamps. What they are, what they do, and different types of them that will help you choose the right one for your purposes. Before we dive in, you should know that The Sound & Light Hire Company is not only a great resource for information about sound, lighting, staging or LED screen equipment, but also that we’ve got hundreds of thousands of products available in our hire stock at any given time, with sound engineers like myself waiting to help you out. So visit us today at The Sound & Light Hire Company at https://truesoundhire.co.uk/ Let’s get started.

So, what is a preamp? Preamp is short for preamplifier.

A preamp is a kind of amplifier that’s designed specifically to take really weak signals and, well, make them louder. Think about like a microphone. When you plug it into something like a mixer or a recording interface. What it’s going into is a kind of preamp. You might wonder why you might be presenting your preamp with a weak signal to begin with.

So, to better understand this, we’ve gotta talk about microphones as a kind of electrical device called a transducer. A transducer, at, at its most basic form is any kind of device that takes one form of energy, in this case the vibrations of molecules in the air that we perceive as sound, and trans, uh, transduce it into something that, uh an electrical device like a mixer or a recording interface can use, a voltage.

If you think about what a microphone is doing, the diaphragm inside is responding to really, really tiny vibrations of those air molecules. So, when that energy gets tra- transduced into an electrical signal, it’s a really, really tiny signal at the level of millivolts. But our devices, like mixers or recording interfaces or speakers, can’t really use that signal, it’s too low. So that’s why that microphone has to first go into a preamp that can give it the amount of gain necessary without inducing a lot of distortion or noise into the signal. This is why preamps are a kind of specialty amplifier, because they have to take that really weak signal and make it louder without inducing a lot of noise.

Preamps do this in different ways. There are different circuits, there’s, uh, different components that are used in different types of preamps to make this happen. Some use technologies like, uh, tubes, that you might be familiar with. Some use transistors. Regardless of the kind of preamp, at the end of the day, it’s still taking your microphone signal and essentially making it louder in a clean or coloured way, so that the devices further down the chain can use that signal.

Let’s talk about different scenarios in which you might need a preamp.

Let’s say you’re performing, uh, live with your band, and you’re singing into a microphone. Chances are you’re going into a mixer like this one. The microphone input on this mixer is a kind of preamp. It takes the signal coming off of that microphone, and helps you add gain to it so that the rest of the mixer can use that signal, so that it can be mixed with other signals, and then eventually be sent on to a recording device, or, uh, monitors, or your main PA speaker system.

Same thing if you’re using preamps in a recording environment. Let’s say you’re at home, in your project studio, recording a microphone on vocals or an instrument. Chances are you might be going through an interface like this one, which microphone input on that interface would also be your preamp. Or you might be going through an outboard preamp like this one here, which is more of a specialty piece that would still need to go into a different kind of device, like a converter, downstream.

In any case in any of these situations, you’re still using a preamp, which is helping to take your microphone signal and add gain to it, so that devices down the chain can use that signal.

Any electrical device, just by its very nature, is going to add a little bit of noise to your signal, right. But preamps have to be designed in a specific way so that they can minimize that while giving you what you really want, which is the sound of your microphone, so that you can get a bunch of clean gain without adding that extra distortion or noise.

You’ll see these things in technical specifications for preamps when you’re picking them. You’ll see distortion listed as THD, which stand for total harmonic distortion, or, uh, the noise floor spec, which refers to, uh, when no signal is passing through that preamp, what is that idle noise floor?

Both of these are important specs to keep in mind, but at the end of the day, we also need to remember that preamps are, uh, different flavours in our recording or live sound setups like this Live Sound Package. Some preamps might colour our sound, or add character to our sound in a way that’s pleasing to our ears. Others are designed to be very clean or transparent, meaning that they don’t add a lot of color or extra harmonic saturation to your signal, but allow you to get a bunch of clean gain from that signal so that it can be processed however you like later on.

Whether we’re using a clean preamp or a coloured, or character preamp, it’s important to know the different types that are available.

They’re all ultimately different tools that we can use in our musical setups, whether you’re performing live or recording in the studio. Another important thing to consider when choosing your preamp is the type of microphone that you’re gonna be using with it. Because different types of microphones output different signal strengths, this is something to keep in mind when choosing that preamp.

So, for example, a condenser microphone, which typically gets power, uh, over phantom power, is gonna output a hotter signal. It’s more sensitive, and it might not need as much gain as a low-gain microphone like a Shure SM7B, for example, or an Electro-Voice RE20 would need. These types of dynamic microphones are low-gain microphones because they need more gain from the preamp. The signal coming off of that microphone is a little bit lower, so it needs a little bit more help before it can go on to the rest of your signal path.

Consider ribbon microphones as well. By their very nature, because of how the transducing mechanism works, they also output a much lower signal. In fact, there are preamps that are designed specifically for ribbon microphones to help you get a bunch of gain in a really clean way to preserve the character of the ribbon microphone, while also getting you the amount of signal you need for the rest of your path.

As you can see, there’s lots of factors to consider when selecting a preamp, and we’re just starting to scratch the surface. The Sound & Light Hire Company audio engineers are here to help you pick. We’ll talk to you about what’s in your setup, and what might be the right addition moving forward. Be sure to like this blog if you want to see more like it, and leave us a comment below. Thanks for reading .

The Sound & Light Hire Company Become Audio Visual Supplier for Guildford Borough Council Moving into 2021 for Local Events & Outdoor Cinemas in Surrey

Moving into 2021 for Local Events & Outdoor Cinemas in Surrey….

Well, we’ve certainly started the new year with a bang! First, we told you about the slightly unexpected but very welcome boom in demand for our outdoor stages this summer, and now we’ve won a council contract for several events planned for the spring and summer of 2021!

Of course, we have worked with Guildford Borough Council before on numerous occasions over the years, and we have a great relationship with all of the fantastic team over there. Still, it’s really nice to win another contract when the world is more than a little topsy-turvy at the moment!

So without wasting any more of your time, let’s tell you all about it!

The Sound & Light Hire Company Win a Contract to Supply Audio Visual and Event Production Services for 2021 Outdoor Events

As mentioned, we’ve worked with Guildford Borough Council on numerous events over the last decade. However, this contract represents a change of tack, with many events that traditionally take place indoors now moving outdoors for fairly obvious reasons! What that means is that, for the first time ever, we will be supplying outdoor cinema hire services to this Surrey council.

So what are the events in question we hear you ask? Well, they are a range of family fun days (eight in total) that will have all kinds of attractions put on for kids and big kids (sorry, adults) to enjoy alike. The main attraction will be the enormous outdoor cinema, which will screen a family-friendly movie to bring the proceedings to a close.

Of course, as any of you that will have attended an outdoor cinema screening (which might be quite a lot of you since they’ve made quite the comeback in the 2020s) will know, we’ll be supplying far more than just the LED screen hire. We’ll also provide the Guildford Borough Council team with outdoor stage hire and a full range of audio visual (AV) services.

So let’s take a look at those services in a little more detail.

Outdoor Stage Hire for Surrey Council

Of course, an outdoor cinema needs staging. There are a few ways you can use truss and staging structures to support an outdoor LED screen installation. You can choose to “fly” (suspend) an LED screen from a purpose-built truss structure. Or, instead, you can have the LED screen ground supported by the staging equipment.

In this instance, we will be supporting the LED screens from “the ground up,” as it were. The reason is that it gives the council event planners the option to have a versatile stage area for the day in addition to the outdoor cinema. So they, should they wish, could use the stage for live performances from children’s entertainers, or even a live band, should they want to.

As is the case with all events at the moment, these fun days are all pending, so the finer details are yet to be worked out. Still, we’re at least 90% sure that we’ll provide this kind of set up from the point of view of versatility as much as anything else.

So with the staging covered, let’s take a closer look at the LED video panels themselves.

Surrey Outdoor Cinema Screen Hire for Local Authority Events

Of course, an outdoor cinema experience wouldn’t amount to much with the screen! So let’s talk about the specifications of the LED screens we’ll be supplying in a little more detail.

Perhaps the first thing to note about our screens is that they are 3.9mm pixel pitch, which is about as sharp as it gets in this industry. What that means in the real world is that those in attendance can be as little as a few metres away and still enjoy crystal-clear, stunning HD footage without seeing those tiny black spaces in between the LED nodes.

These screens also score very highly in terms of nits (a measure of brightness), so even if these events are blessed with copious amounts of sunshine, our LED video panels won’t struggle. They have a brightness output of over 4,000 nits, more than enough to deal with even the most dazzling of sunny days.

Given that these screening will take place in the evening, the sun shouldn’t really be a factor, but it’s always good to let you know just how impressive our equipment is anyway 😉 These video panels are also IP 65-rated, meaning they’ll withstand the rain should the weather do it’s best to put a dampener on proceedings.

Finally, in terms of the size of the screen we build, we’ve still yet to receive confirmation from the council, but we imagine it will be 5m x 3m as this size is one of the best configurations for 16:9 aspect ratio (HD) video content.

Staging and LED screen aside, there’s still plenty of our event equipment hire services that we’ll be supplying to these fun days, so let’s take a look at them.

Event Lighting Hire for Local Surrey Borough Council

Of course, any stage production needs accompanying event lighting equipment to bring it to life. In this case, we will be providing a relatively all-encompassing set of lighting fixtures to draw in attention to the stage and keep it focused there.

We will have all of the usual suspects such as spotlights and moving head stage washes, but we will also install a few showstoppers to really create an immersive experience for audience members. We’ve already got a few OPSL laser systems lined up, along with a fog machine, but we’ll keep the rest close to our chest so as not to ruin the surprises in store!

More broadly speaking, we have also been tasked with providing atmospheric lighting for in and around the outdoor cinema area. For these purposes, we are going to be using our wireless LED uplighters.

Since they are battery powered, there’s no need to worry about those attending the event tripping over cables. Better yet, the performance figures on these lights are just staggering. Thanks to their energy-efficient LEDs, these lights can run for around 20 hours off a full charge. Yes, that’s right, 20 hours! We could come back in the morning to pack everything away, and they would still be going!

But enough about lighting, let’s tell you all about the sound options we’ve got in store for these events.

Sound Equipment Hire Services For Surrey Council Funday Events

Unless you’re in the business of showing screening silent films, then you’re going to need a sound system fit for totally immersing the audience in what they are watching. Whether it’s the Avengers or a Pixar movie, soundtracks carry the film every bit as much as the visuals do, which is why we are going to be supplying the best outdoor PA speaker system in the business.

For those of you unfamiliar, there is one stand-out brand when it comes to outdoor (and indoor for that matter) PA speaker systems, and that’s d&b audiotechnik. This German company has been streets ahead in terms of audio quality and sheer power for quite some time now, which is obviously why we stock so much of their kit!

We’re not 100% sure on the exact arrangement the council will opt for, but we know it’ll be d&b, as there’s no other solution that comes close. In terms of the equipment, we’ll be supplying line array speakers and accompanying subs. Depending on how the stage will be used for the rest of the day, we may provide additional sound equipment such as stage monitors and amps.

Surrey Audio Visual (AV) and Event Production Services Handled By The Sound & Light Hire Company Team

Of course, we couldn’t go without mentioning that none of these services can be provided without the help of our excellent team. Upon the award of the contract, the Guildford Borough Council noted the previous performance of our on-site staff members being a factor in securing the work.

In case you’re wondering, we don’t just supply all of the equipment from our in-hour inventory. We have a team made up of some of the most experienced and highly-skilled technicians and engineers in the business. From the moment our stage crews arrive, to the final minutes of loading up the last van full of equipment to head back to the warehouse, our team members are friendly, polite, and the ultimate professionals. We couldn’t be any prouder of them!

In terms of these events specifically, our team will be taking care of stage and truss structure construction, the rigging of the lighting fixtures, the assembly and set up of the screen, and the installation and positioning all of the associated sound equipment. We’ll then keep a few engineers and technicians around for the duration to ensure that everything runs as planned.

It’s another reason why The Sound & Light Hire is such a good fit for these types of events. Because we have the experienced team on hand, we can provide a turnkey solution whereby we handle all of the AV and associated technical aspects for you. All you (or in this case, the council) have to do is specify their requirements, and we’ll handle the rest. Yes; it really can be that simple!

Choose the Sound & Light Hire Company for Your Outdoor Events This Summer

If you’ve been smart and reading between the lines, you’ll have noticed that’s potentially eight dates whereby a decent chunk of our premium equipment is already reserved to go out on hire. While we are a large scale operation that serves multiple events every day, there is a limit to how much we equipment we can hire out (although we do have some pretty big warehouses!).

That’s why you need to act fast if you want to book in some equipment hire with us. Even if you only want to reserve a PA speaker hire package for a weekend in June to use with your phone or laptop, we’re anticipating one of the busiest summers on record.

Most (if not all) of us are ready to celebrate the end of COVID-19’s grip on our lives, and so even the smaller equipment hire packages are going to even more popular this year. That’s without mentioning the sheer amount of cancelled, postponed, and brand new events lined up right across Surrey for this summer!

Even if you just THINK you might need something from us or just want some friendly advice about putting together an outdoor event such as a garden party, give us a call on 0800 8611136 today.

We are open seven days a week, and we can’t wait to hear about what you’ve got planned!

Surrey’s Premium Sound, Lighting & Stage Hire Company

The Sound & Light Hire Company LogoSound Light Equipment Hire Surrey

Here at the Sound & Light Hire Company,

We’ve worked hard over the years to become Surrey’s leading provider of sound, lighting, stage, and LED screen hire to name but a few of our ever-growing arsenal of event services.

Whether you need to hire an outdoor stage for your festival event at Nonsuch Park, or you need some speakers for your summer garden party in Guildford, we have you covered! Better yet, not only do we provide our equipment with helpful, friendly advice and a smile, but we can also help to set everything up for you, should you wish.

We are proud of what we’ve managed to build over the last 20+ years, and we’re continually striving to add new event hire services to ensure we remain at the top of the pecking order when it comes to event equipment hire services in Surrey.

But what if you’ve never heard of us before? Perhaps you’re organising your first event, or you’ve been living under a rock? Either way, we thought we would use this space to outline the massive number of services we can provide for your birthday party, wedding, corporate event, or music festival taking place in Surrey.

Let’s start with our bread and butter, Surrey sound hire!

Sound Hire Surrey

Sound hire services are the first we offered way back when we helped DJs back in the nineties put on the best parties in town! Fast forward almost thirty years, and we still provide the best in the business concerning sound equipment hire for your events.

Whether you need a PA system for your live DJ set, or you’ve booked the local band for your wedding reception we’ve got everything you need in stock to ensure the sound is nothing less than perfect. We can even include live sound engineer hire from as little as £125 per day should you wish to have a professional overseeing the sound mixing.

If you’re a little apprehensive about the fact that you’re not sure what you actually need, fear not! Our expert sound team is always on hand to listen to your requirements before providing a package that is a perfect match for your particular event.

In this regard, we tend to stand out from competitors because we simply have more experience (sadly; we’re getting old!). On far too many occasions to recall, we’ve had to save the day when other equipment hire companies have supplied equipment not capable of even half the duties they were hired for. So always make sure you hire sound equipment such as speakers that are powerful enough for your event requirements.

On a related note, we also differentiate ourselves as Surrey’s top sound hire company because we only stock industry-leading brands. We supply predominately d&b audiotechnik audio equipment, a company that is widely regarded as the best in the business and demanded by many leading international music artists such as Coldplay on their riders.

Not only do we stock the best brands, but we also take good care of them too. We service all items in our inventory every six months, check each item as it comes in and when it leaves the warehouse, and we sell and subsequently replace any piece of equipment that is older than three years. How’s that for a commitment to quality?!

It’s the main reason why we’ve never experienced any significant failures when hiring out our sound equipment, and that’s not a track record we intend on letting slip any time soon.

But if you’re planning an event in Surrey, sound equipment will only get you so far. So let’s move on and take a look at some of other essential event equipment hire services.

Event Lighting Hire Surrey

Your event lighting is often just as important as your sound setup. As mentioned, when we first started, we were a sound-hire-only company. But as we quickly found out, what’s a party od a DJ set without any disco lights? Within a few months, we were a sound and lighting hire company, hence the new name!

We didn’t waste any time assembling a lighting equipment inventory that puts many lighting hire specialists to shame. LED uplighters, “sound to light” disco lighting fixtures, and high-end intelligent moving head fixtures, we literally stock everything you could need regardless of the specific event you’re hosting.

We specialise in providing the latest and greatest in LED technology. We passionately believe that LEDs represent the industry’s future and have therefore invested heavily in this particular type of versatile lighting equipment. They are kinder to the environment, they are easily programmed, and they don’t suffer from the heat-related issues that traditional lighting formats do.

We know that if you plan and getting people up and dancing, excellent lighting can make the dance floor all the more enticing. For DJ performances, parties, and weddings, lighting setups are crucial to your event’s success. Whether you need disco lighting hire, or you want to hire some laser machines to add a touch of professionalism, we can provide you with demos of any of our lighting fixtures to ensure your completely wowed before making your investment.

We also supply all of the associated equipment such as lighting stands and cabling, just in case you wondered!

With the crucial aspects of sound and lighting taken care, you might have what you need for your specific event. However, what if you need more? Don’t worry; we’re only just getting started with our range of services!

Stage Hire Surrey

Some events, such as local community gatherings, fundraisers, outdoor music festivals, and even weddings, need a stage. Fortunately, we’ve been providing stage hire services to Surrey clients for almost a decade now, so we’ve developed a lot of expertise in this area too!

If you’re hosting an outdoor event such as a music festival, then you’ll want to take a look at our selection of outdoor stage hire packages. The beauty of these packages is that they include our top of the range sound and lighting equipment, giving you a complete stage production.

However, we’ve got indoor events covered too! Whether you need to hire a stage for the live band at your wedding or need an indoor stage for your club night DJ set in Farnham, we can supply a stage solution that works for you. Once again, these packages come with lighting and sound equipment included, making them unbeatable in terms of value for money.

Also included in the price is the setup of these stages by our experienced stage crews. Of course, we’ll also have our lighting technicians and sound engineers on hand to set up their respective pieces of equipment too.

Therefore, if you need to hire a stage with all of the associated production for your event, you can count on us to deliver a turnkey solution for your event!

Thought we were done? No! We’ve still got more to cover!

LED Screen Hire Surrey

The 2020s so far have been the decade of the LED screens. Outdoor cinema events, in particular, have been making a comeback. We’ve invested heavily to create one of the largest LED screen inventories in the country.

Our high-resolution LED video wall panels grab attention and can give your event that stand-out factor. They boast 3.9mm pixel pitch, 4500+ nits score (brightness rating), and they’re IP 56-rated, meaning even the most robust British shower won’t interfere with their operation. You can have your attendees just a few metres away, and they can drink in the crystal clear HD footage your broadcasting.

We can build you want a solid wall, suspend them from truss structures, or provide separate screen areas depending on your event’s requirements. We have over 120 square metres of LED video panels in stock to meet even the most challenging of demands.

While we have plenty of other equipment choices available such as special effects hire and LED furniture hire, we thought we should quickly cover our event production support services, which are available with all of our equipment hire packages.

Event Production Support Services Surrey

Whether you’re planning a wedding or organising your daughters’ 21st birthday bash, you might have enough on your plate as it is. The thought of setting up sound systems and lighting fixtures might seem like the last thing you want to be doing.

To be clear, we feel all of the equipment we dry hire is incredibly accessible, and we spend as long as it takes for you to understand what you need to do when setting up and dismantling. However, sometimes you don’t want the hassle. You might want to focus on selling tickets to your event or decorating the venue. We get it. That’s why we offer our personnel should you want them there to oversee the technical side of your event.

You might need an experienced sound engineer to mix the sound levels for the live band you’ve booked for your party, or you may need a skilled lighting technician to choreograph and program a spectacular light display to accompany your bonfire night celebrations. Whatever you need from our technical support team, they can provide it for you.
