Set within 65 acres of rolling Surrey Countryside is High Billinghurst Farm. Located between Dunsfold and Hascombe, a long meandering private lane, edged by hedgerows, wildflowers, and fields, leads you towards High Billinghurst Farm’s event barn, which provides the perfect setting for any special occasion.
Over the summer, we were enlisted to provide the full event production requirements for a wedding taking place at this stunning venue. From the decorative event lighting to the sound requirements, we handled all technical aspects for this memorable day, and we can’t wait to tell you all about it.
So without further ado, let’s get started.
Event Lighting Supplied to Surrey Wedding Venue
The first and most extensive element of the wedding production to tackle was the event lighting, especially the decorative and mood lighting elements. We started our work in the area immediately outside the barn. We rigged wedding festoon lights and ran them from pole to pole (there are telegraph-style poles outside the barn).
Our next move was to set up wireless uplighters along the hedge-rowed perimeter. We set up one battery-powered uplighters every five metres and set them to emit a warm white glow that was not too dissimilar to the warm orange glow given off by the festoon lights.
With the exterior lighting taken care of, it was time to move indoors. Here, we got inventive and set up gobos over our uplighters, projecting leafy patterns on either side of the barn’s wooden sloping roof. We then topped off the decorative lighting arrangement with light-up letters spelling the couple’s name that took their place in front of the DJ booth.
With the decorative lighting taken care of, it was time to move on to the more functional event production elements.
Professional Sound Equipment, Disco Lighting, and Dance Floor Supplied to Surrey Wedding
Our focus moved onto the live entertainment element of the wedding reception. We had liaised with the wedding DJ before the event, so we already knew what he was looking for in terms of production.
He already had his own decks (you can hire DJ equipment from us should you need to for your wedding), which we connected up to a premium sound system made up of d&b audiotechnik speakers and sub-bass units. We also supplied him with a Shure wireless mic for announcements.
We then erected a small truss to affix the disco lighting hire fixtures to before placing a floor-mounted smoke machine at the base of the DJ booth. Last but by no means least, we installed a white dance floor with built-in LEDs that twinkled underneath the guest’s feet as they danced the night away.
Once set-up was complete, we left everyone to it and returned the following day to dismantle and collect everything before returning it to the warehouse. The happy couple thanked us for our hard work and commented on how amazing the barn looked for their big day.
