Lyon Street Food Festival 2025: Our Second Collaboration with Fête24 in France

Last summer we returned to France for the second year running to support one of the country’s biggest and most vibrant events — the Lyon Street Food Festival 2025.

Held at Les Grandes Locos in La Mulatière, near Lyon, the festival brings together top chefs, food producers, workshops, live music and thousands of visitors for a true celebration of food, culture and community. Last year the organisers wanted dedicated spaces where invited speakers could share their knowledge on food trends, sustainability and culinary stories.

We were approached to handle the full technical production — sound systems, event lighting and presentation setup. For the on-ground infrastructure in France we once again partnered with our trusted local friends at Fête24, the family-run event hire company based just outside Bergerac in the Dordogne.

The Setup
Fête24 supplied and completely dressed three 15 m × 10 m stretch tents, turning each one into a ready-to-use mini-venue. They provided:

The Sound & Light Hire Company Provide Wedding Production for Exclusive Reception at RHS Wisley  

One of the most magical wedding venues in the entire country is the Glasshouse at RHS Wisley. This unrivalled location provides a stunning setting for couples and their travelling guests. 

While the gardens are a spectacular backdrop to a wedding celebration, the Glasshouse offers a unique wedding experience as you dine and dance amongst exquisite tropical plants and marvel at the magnificent structure that is one of the largest greenhouses in the UK. 

We were lucky enough to get the call to handle the event production requirements after a previous client of ours referred us to the happy couple, and we couldn’t wait to get started on this unique wedding project. 

Event Lighting Provided to Wedding Reception at RHS Wisley

The brief was pretty simple, despite the grandeur of the location. The idea was to accentuate all of the natural features rather than be overbearing with technical equipment that would take away from the tranquillity and majesty of the reception area. 

With that in mind, we started by rigging the wedding festoon lights between the steel support beams (there were several), winding them between the tables and creating an incredibly rustic feel. We then showcased as many of the enormous tropical plants as we could by carefully positioning wireless uplighters underneath them and emitting a soft white glow. 

With the pared-back mood and atmospheric lighting taken care of, we moved on to the more functional elements of event production, such as the sound equipment and disco lighting. 

Professional Sound Equipment, Staging, and Disco Lighting Supplied to Surrey Wedding Reception 

Unlike many wedding receptions, the couple had not hired a DJ and had instead booked two live bands. When we say live bands, the first “band” was a string quartet that played lovely background music for the guests during the drinks reception, meal, and period between the after-dinner speeches and the first dance.

We started prepping for these two sets of very different technical requirements by constructing a small wedding stage platform that was less than 1m off the ground and with a couple of steps on either side for getting on and off. 

We then started setting up the instrumental microphones and a comprehensive PA system from d&b audiotechnik. We also set up several items that wouldn’t be in use until after the quartet had finished and the professional wedding band had set up, such as the drum mics. 

With all of the individual sound devices set up, we ran everything through a digital mixing desk and had one of our experienced sound engineers oversee its operation during proceedings. 

We then moved on to the disco lighting fixtures, which we rigged along a rectangular truss suspended from the above-mentioned steel beams. Finally, with the professional sound and lighting equipment taken care of, we laid an LED starlit dance floor (white) for the guests to dance the night away. 

As we had a couple of bodies on-site throughout the evening, we can report that the event was a huge success and everyone (including the bride and groom) had a wonderful time. They even dropped in to say a personal thank you before retiring for the evening, which makes our work even more gratifying.

Just 10 miles from London and a stone’s throw from Croydon and Bromley is the spectacular events venue, Oaks Farm. Set against a backdrop of rolling hills and rural beauty, this building offers a range of rooms and suites for event organisers to choose from.

Our client had chosen “The Barn” as their setting for their company’s Christmas party in December of last year. With dark wooden beams and a blend of modern décor and original architectural detailing, we agree that it was a perfect location for a celebration of this nature. 

As a long-time event production partner to Oaks Farm, we got the call when the client booked in this relatively large-scale party. The venue quickly put us in touch with the client, and once we had discussed their options over the phone, we arrived at the venue the morning of the party to set everything up. 

Event Production Supplied to Surrey Events Venue for Corporate Christmas Party 

The first job we had on our hands was to transform the already spectacular barn into something more befitting of the  “Winter Wonderland” theme. We started by wrapping fairy lights around the transverse beams. We then sourced fake winter foliage (such as holly and mistletoe etc.), which we wrapped in the same manner, spaced roughly a foot apart from the lighting pattern.  

With the beams decorated and looking magnificent, we then commandeered one of the corners of the room to put up the Christmas tree, decorate it, and set up the snow machine to cover the area in the white stuff.  

Last on the more decorative side of our event production brief was the mood lighting. We set up two banks of battery-powered venue uplighters (one for each side of the room) and programmed them to emit a shade of blue that makes the entire room feel much more wintery. We are always amazed at how much difference these inexpensive lighting fixtures can make, and they more than did the trick once again. 

Professional Sound Equipment and Disco Lighting Hire Provided to Surrey Christmas Party

With the room now transformed, it was time to take care of the technical requirements for live entertainment. The client had booked a DJ for the after-dinner dancing, so we liaised with her to find out what she needed in terms of sound equipment. 

In the end, we ended up supplying a set of Pioneer DJ decks, a LED DJ booth, starlit backdrops, and a professional-quality sound system made up of d&b audiotechnik equipment, a brand that is widely regarded as the best in the industry. 

On the lighting side, we supplied and rigged a range of disco lighting fixtures (which included a couple of laser machines) along a small truss. Lastly, we finished by suspending an enormous glitter ball from the ceiling to add a touch of nostalgia. 

Once we had checked and rechecked all of the equipment, it was time to head out and leave the staff to enjoy their well-deserved night off. When we returned in the early hours, it was clear that everyone had enjoyed a fantastic night, and our event production had really come into its own once darkness had fallen.

Set in over 200 acres of private land, Surrey National Golf Club is a perfect setting for a whole host of private functions. Boasting stunning views over the Surrey North Downs, the bright and contemporary clubhouse has the capacity for up to 340 guests through its airy inter-linking suites for hire. 

One of these suites was recently hired for a black-tie dinner dance to celebrate the hard work the students of East Surrey College had put in over the course of their higher education qualifications. Being the event equipment supplier for Surrey National, we got the call to deal with the event production requests of the client, and we were more than happy to oblige. 

With that in mind, let’s tell you a little more about the work we put in to make sure this was a memorable evening for everyone in attendance. 

Event Lighting Supplied to Dinner Dance for Students at Surrey National Golf Club

The first element of our event brief that needed taking care of was the event lighting. We wasted no time setting up a number of fixtures upon our arrival at the venue. We set up wireless uplighters at 5-metre intervals to set the right tone for the room (we landed on a deep shade of purple). We then moved on to the light up letters, which we had custom-made to spell “Class of 2021”, adding a nice personal touch for the students.  

We also rigged festoon lighting to run across the ceiling, using anchor points on the joins between the top of the walls and the beginning of the sloped ceilings. With the event lighting taken care of, we moved on to the more technical infrastructure, including the sound system.

With the event lighting taken care of, it was time to move on to the more technical equipment. We liaised with the client’s DJ to ascertain what they needed and supplied him with a pair of Pioneer DJ decks, a snazzy LED DJ booth, and a full PA system from d&b audiotechnik. We also threw in a wireless microphone for good measure, ensuring he could make the odd announcement as and when was necessary. 

We erected a truss over and above the DJ booth to rig the disco lights we supplied, and then it was time to move on to the last piece of the puzzle, the dance floor. The client decided on our classy black starlit dance floor, which we neatly matched with several floor-mounted starlit drapes, to give the dance floor area a real feeling of exclusivity.

The party lasted well into the evening, and it looked as though everyone had enjoyed a brilliant evening when it was time for the carriages to arrive.

The Sound & Light Hire Company Supply Turnkey Wedding Event Production to Reception on Ravens Ait Island

There is undoubtedly no other Surrey wedding venue quite like Ravens Ait Island. A literal island in the middle of the Thames, those attending events here have the pleasure of catching the miniature ferry across the river to this venue with a difference.

While there are several different types of events hosted at this exclusive riverside venue, we were recently called in to provide a turnkey wedding event production solution for a couple getting married at the beginning of last autumn. 

The couple had opted for the dedicated marquee space for their reception, and we set about transforming it into the wedding reception venue of their dreams. So without further ado, let’s talk about the work we carried out to ensure the event was a resounding success. 

Event Production Provided to Ravens Ait Island in Kingston Upon Thames

The first aspect of our event production brief was decorating the space above and beyond those provided by the venue. We started with white wedding drapes, which we put in at each pillar of the framed marquee to cover up the steel bar structure. We then took the venue draping one step further by setting up ceiling-mounted starlit backdrops that hung over the dance floor area.      

Next, we then began rigging wedding fairy lights that criss-crossed from the marquee sides, ran along with the marquee ceiling, and met in the middle of the tent. These lights looked wonderful once darkness had fallen, really adding a magical feel to things. 

Lastly, on the non-technical side, we supplied and installed a wide range of LED furniture, including a mobile LED bar, poseur tables, and chairs. These were for the guests in and around the dance floor area. They were all programmed to cycle through a range of bright colours, and, once again, they really came into their own once darkness fell.

Once we had taken care of all of the decorative elements of wedding event production, it was time to move on to the technical side of things. There was no need for a wedding stage for this event, and the live entertainment came in the form of a local DJ.

We made sure he had everything he needed and set up an attractive LED DJ booth for him to operate from. We then supplied and installed an immersive sound system that was more than ample for the 150 or so wedding guests in attendance. We then erected a small free-standing truss to which we attached the disco lighting fixtures, laser machines, and smoke machines.

Lastly, we laid an impressive 10m x 10m square dance floor, one of our white LED starlit models, which certainly impressed the guests. Many of them were itching to take it for a spin! With the dance floor taken care of, it was time to quickly check and double-check all devices before leaving the bride, groom, and their guests to it.

Upon returning the next day to dismantle and collect everything, we were told the event was a resounding success and that the bride and groom were delighted with the way the marquee both looked and sounded. We were obviously thrilled to receive such positive feedback.
