Straddling the Surrey and Hampshire border, Northbrook Park is a truly spectacular venue. Set within 120 acres of stunning countryside, this privately owned Grade II listed eighteenth-century manor house offers a choice of unique wedding settings to tailor a truly bespoke celebration.

It was recently the setting for an incredible Bengali wedding reception (with no less than a whopping 250 guests!). We became involved when the happy couple had instructed us to take care of all the technical event production elements. It’s fair to say we had our work cut out, but we brought out the big guns, as we shall now explain.  

Wedding Stage Hire for Asian Wedding in Surrey

The first and perhaps most crucial event production element we provided for our clients was the wedding stage. As those familiar with Asian wedding celebrations know, the wedding stage is of utmost importance, with the bride, groom, and other dignitaries taking their place on the platform at the head of the hired event space. 

We supplied one of our modular, elevated platforms for this specific wedding event and combined it with three-tiered steps leading up to it. While we often supply white wedding stages, we customised this particular one with rose-gold-effect plating, as was requested, so that it fitted in nicely with the rest of the wedding decor. 

With the stage taken care of, it was time to move on to the more technical aspects, such as the sound and lighting equipment.

As mentioned, this is one of the largest weddings by way of attendees we have ever supplied our equipment and services to. Fortunately, since we supply clients such as music festivals, we are no strangers to supplying equipment capable of wowing audiences in the hundreds or even thousands. 

On the sound side, we supplied one of our premium PA systems from industry-leading brand d&b audiotechnik. We paired them with a couple of wireless mics for the DJs (yes, there were a couple of them), and we had our sound engineer monitor all of the sound through a Midas digital mixing desk

Concerning the lighting, the venue actually had dedicated rigging and anchor points for lighting fixtures, which certainly made our job more manageable. We used these locations to rig moving head lights, LED disco lights, and a couple of laser machines for good measure. 

Finally, in keeping with the white and gold decor theme, we supplied and installed a white starlit dance floor that sparkled underneath the many dancing feet! We managed to fit a staggering 35ft by 20ft dance floor into the event space, delivering 700 square feet of dance floor surface area!

Situated in the heart of Surbiton, Surrey is Glenmore House. One of the finest examples of late Georgian architecture in the county, this event’s venue is also just a stone’s throw from Claremont Gardens. 

Inside, the famous Elizabethan Suite boasts a magnificent double-height ballroom, complete with sparkling chandeliers, minstrel’s galleries, and a modern bar area. This was the room to be used as the space for an industry seminar in the business sector that The Sound & Light Company recently helped with our event production services. 

So let’s tell you a little more about the background to the event and the equipment/support services we provided to this prestigious and exclusive event. 

Prestigious and Exclusive Seminar Event with One of London’s Biggest Names in Finance in Surbiton, Surrey

While the client strictly forbade us from revealing too much information about the event, the premise was pretty simple. The client had hired Glenmore House’s exclusive Elizabethan Suite to host an industry seminar with one of London’s most prominent hedge fund managers. 

There was a presentation from the star guest, before an open interview led by a prominent journalist from the Financial Times, a question and answer section, and lastly, a post-seminar networking session where all delegates got a chance to chat with each other and the famous guest speaker. 

So, now you’re up to speed with the event format, let’s tell you a little more about our work at Glenmore House. 

The Sound & Light Hire Company Supply Conference AV Equipment to Business Seminar

We were tasked with providing a projector and screen combination that was up to the task of the presentation. Seeing as we are supplying these devices to events week in, week out, this wasn’t an issue, and we supplied one of our brand new 4K projectors with a 7 x 5 ft screen. 

We hooked up this projector to a laptop via HDMI, and we helped the star guest by running through some on-the-spot basics and walking him through using the slide clicker. As it turned out, he was familiar with these setups and picked it all up immediately. 

Next, we supplied him with a wireless lapel mic run through a PA system more than powerful enough for the 100 or so delegates in attendance. For the interview session, we switched him and the journalist onto Shure wireless mics and ran everything through a digital mixing desk overseen by one of our sound engineers. 

Lastly, we set up a separate set of PA speakers closer to the bar area that played background music during the intermissions and the networking session towards the end of the evening.

The last event production element to mention was the event lighting we installed and operated during proceedings. We rigged a truss for the stage lighting towards the rear of the room, using spotlights and stage washes to illuminate the elevated platform that had been provided in-house. 

Overall the evening was well-received, and the client has already contacted us to look after the event production requirements for the next edition of this event.

Nestled on the border between Surrey and Hampshire within the outskirts of Headley is Cain Manor. This charming Tudor manor barn looks as if it has been transported directly from the 16th Century and still looks unchanged from the outside, despite its modern interior. With roaring log fires and wooden beams, this exclusive-use wedding venue offers happy couples the chance to experience a ceremony or reception like no other. 

Cain Manor is one of Bijou’s wedding venues, and, given we are on their preferred supplier list, we were asked to handle many of the event production aspects. So without further ado, let’s delve into the details of this intimate and quaint celebration that we were privileged to be a part of. 

Event Lighting Supplied to Wedding Reception at Cain Manor

We began by installing an array of event and mood lighting for the dinner and speeches whilst also having one eye on the frivolity and dancing to come in the evening. We started with wedding festoon lighting

With the plentiful wooden beams within the property and the Music Room in particular (where the reception was held), intertwining these warm glowing fairytale-esque lights was a no-brainer. We started by draping them from the minstrels’ gallery rights across the main room. We also wrapped fairy lights around the wooden supporting beams to complete the rustic look.   

We then set up three banks of wireless uplighters along the two side walls and the back wall, respectively. Initially, we programmed them to emit warm shades of yellow to match the festoon lighting. However, when the time came for the happy couple and their guests to get in the party spirit, we switched them to a deep purple to better reflect the desired atmosphere. 

Last but by no means least, we also supplied an array of LED disco lights and a set of LED light-up letters that spelt the newly-wed couple’s names.

Next, we built on the existing sound set up with the manor to supply an immersive PA system more than capable of entertaining the 100 or so guests in attendance. We supplied a couple of wireless mics for the speeches, and we complemented them with a couple of PA speakers, a few subwoofers, and a couple of power amps, all of which was run through a mixing desk.

This setup was put in place for the wedding DJ (it would have been more than overkill for the wedding speeches), and he was impressed with the quality of equipment we had supplied him with (the professionals always smile when they see the words d&b audiotechnik on the side of the speakers!). 

While it certainly wasn’t the most complicated sound setup we have provided to a wedding, it nevertheless proved to be more than ample, with the guests commenting on how good the sound was in the Music Room.

The last remaining event production element we were in charge of was the dance floor hire. With the Music Room not being the biggest of spaces, we opted for a dance floor that would deliver maximum impact in return for a minimum footprint. That meant bringing our white starlit LED dance floor that perfectly offset the purple mood lighting delivered by our uplighters and stole the centre of attention after darkness fell. 

All in all, the event production element we supplied and installed came together brilliantly to deliver the perfect technical infrastructure for the wedding celebration that will live long in the memory for all of those in attendance.

Resting on the borders of Surrey, Hampshire, and West Sussex is the Lythe Hill Hotel & Spa. The award-winning events venue is surrounded by countryside and combines old-world charm with a contemporary and elegant décor. 

While the original 16th century Tudor House sits overlooking a stunning lake against breath-taking views of the South Downs Countryside beyond, once inside, the facade unravels to reveal an extraordinarily modern and well-appointed interior for events such as weddings and conferences. 

Just a matter of weeks ago, we were asked to provide the staging, event lighting, and professional sound equipment for a corporate Christmas party taking place at this exclusive venue. We were, of course, more than happy to oblige despite the location being further afield than our usual radius of operations.

The event was taking place in Lythe Hill’s Ivory Room. A stunning space with a valued glass ceiling and chandeliers that oozed modernity and exclusivity. The tables for the event were laid out in a banquet style, with one side of the room dedicated to the live entertainment area. 

This is where we came in. 

We started by erecting one of our modular live band stages. The client didn’t actually book a live band, but the stage doubles as an excellent elevated position for DJs and sound equipment, as was the case in this instance. 

We then set up and rigged a rectangular truss, with half of the lights beaming down onto the stage and the others (LED disco lights) beaming down onto the dance floor area. Fixtures included spotlights, moving heads, and LED PAR cans

Next, we catered for the needs of the event’s sound system. In the end, in consultation with the client, we opted for a sizeable d&b audiotechnik PA system, complete with mid-top speakers, a couple of bass speakers, and a few power amps. We ran everything through a mixing desk and performed a quick soundcheck to ensure everything sounded A-OK before the DJ arrived to set up his equipment.  

We usually also supply dance floors to these events, but seeing as the Ivory Room has a built-in parquet flooring section that naturally doubles as a dance floor, there was no need in this instance. 

Finally, our team arrived back on-site to begin the dismantling process once the event entered its dying embers. It looked as though everyone had enjoyed a great night, and the client stopped by to give us their thanks for a job well done. 

Once we had packed everything up, it was time to head back to the warehouse, check everything over and get the devices ready for their next outing.

More a private house than a hotel, Langshott Manor is an exclusive use venue for events with a long and illustrious history. Set in complete seclusion and offering unrivalled flexibility and the utmost privacy, this location was chosen by a prominent London firm to host a three-day long retreat for many of its key staff members. 

The first two days involved training sessions, breakout sessions, and “blue-sky thinking” activities. The final day consisted of group and team-building activities before the retreat was brought to an end with a posh three-course dinner and dancing.    

As preferred AV equipment hire and event production supplier to this exclusive venue, we were recommended by the in-house events coordinator to take care of all technical equipment not covered by the venue. 

With that in mind, let’s tell you about the dual aspect of this turnkey event hire package, starting with the AV installation.

As mentioned, the first couple of days were occupied by the more serious aspects of the retreat. There were training sessions, guest speakers, meetings, and open discussions covering various topics relating to the company. There needed to be a top-class AV installation for all of these activities to ensure everyone got the most out of them. 

For the main room, we installed a projector and screen combination, supplied wireless microphones for the presenters and instructors, and set up a small PA system so everyone in the room could hear the content delivered just as well as they could see it. 

The breakout sessions were in smaller rooms, so we needed to provide some more AV equipment, this time in the form of 52″ flatscreen TVs to help facilitate discussions and note down ideas. 

With two days of training, meetings and discussions, it was time for the last day of fun activities, with our team placed solely in charge of the entertainment.

Even though there were just under 70 people in attendance at this retreat, we were under strict instructions to deliver the best possible technical setup for the audience size to ensure everyone had a great time. 

We duly obliged with a professional sound system hire package that would have handled an audience more than three times the size with ease. We ran those d&b audiotechnik speakers through a mixing desk handled by our on-site engineer, who liaised with the hired DJ to make sure everything was sounding as it should (we also supplied him with a Shure wireless mic) before the party kicked off in earnest.

Next, we had to get our thinking caps on to fit an all-singing, all-dancing disco lighting arrangement into what is an old and tightly proportioned Surrey manor house. In the end, we managed it with a small truss that we managed to rig in between wooden ceiling beams. Affixed to the truss was a range of disco lights, a laser machine, and a couple of big-eye moving head lights for good measure. 

Finally, we laid a small LED dance floor that twinkled under the feet of those dancing the evening away. 

Once the frivolity was over, we returned the next day to pick all equipment up and load it up into our vans. Judging by the looks of everyone in the morning, a good night was had by all!

Situated on the highest point of Richmond Park is the beautiful grade II listed Pembroke Lodge, one of the city’s most popular events venues. With 11 acres of landscaped grounds, stunning views, and easily accessible from anywhere in London and Surrey, it’s not hard to see why. 

Last month, it was the setting for a lovely family celebration, a surprise 40th (ruby) wedding anniversary organised in secret by the happy couples now-adult children. They had booked out the majestic Russell Suite, characterised by its enormous Georgian windows that let in plenty of natural light and take you back to a bygone era. 

So without further ado, let’s tell you a little more about the work we did for this heart-warming occasion. 

The Sound & Light Hire Company Provides Event Production Services to Surrey Anniversary Celebration 

The first element of the event brief was to take care of the atmospheric and mood event lighting in the main room of the Russell Suite during the three-course meal. We placed a series of LED uplighters around the perimeter of the main room and had them cycle through shades of purples and reds as requested by the clients. 

At one end of the room, we supplied a couple of Shure wireless mics and had them connected up to a couple of PA speakers for the after-dinner speeches. Then, once the dinner and the speeches had come to pass, in time for the guests to spill out into the Phantom Room (disco and dancing room) and the Bertrand Russell room (where the fully-stocked evening bar is located). 

We were in charge of supplying and installing the necessary DJ, sound, and lighting equipment for the disco room.

The client put us in touch with the DJ they had booked for the evening, and we ran through his preferences/requirements before arriving on-site to set everything up. Together, we settled on an obligatory professional DJ booth and a set of PIONEER CDJ2000NXS2 decks for his setup. 

Regarding the lights, we set up a small truss and affixed several LED disco lights, a couple of moving head lights, and a laser machine. We complemented this lighting arrangement with a smoke/fog machine to enhance the lighting effects. 

Last but by no means least, we hooked all of the DJ equipment up to a d&b audiotechnik PA system, complete with a couple of speakers, a couple of subwoofers, and a few power amps.

Guildford Manor Hotel & Spa is one of the most exclusive wedding venues in all of Surrey. Set in 10 acres of the Surrey Hills countryside, this boutique hotel provides a beautiful and romantic backdrop for any couple who decides to tie the knot here. 

We had the pleasure of recently providing a turnkey event production package to a happy couple for both the ceremony and the reception. We worked in tandem with Guildford Manor’s in-house wedding coordinator to supply, install, and oversee all aspects of event production not provided by this exclusive use venue. 

So, while the venue was able to provide event production elements such as the floral decorations, a red carpet, lanterns, starlit draping, an easel, and a cake stand & knife, we were in charge of the rest. 

So with that in mind, let’s walk you through our work on this wedding production, starting with the ceremony.

As is often the case these days, the ceremony itself actually took place outside. At the end of the walkway for the outdoor ceremony was the outdoor Pavillion, which would house the happy couple during the exchange of rings and vows. 

We lined the walkway with two banks of wedding festoon lighting that gave off a lovely warm yellow glow in the late afternoon twilight. We also set up several wireless uplighters that were pointed at the Pavillion and nearby trees to accentuate their features and bring them to life. 

We also supplied a boom mic and a couple of speakers for the string quartet, and we provided the registrar with a lapel mic that we also ran through the same PA speakers. We had a sound engineer on-site to make sure everything ran smoothly and that the sound was nicely balanced. 

Once the ceremony was over, it was time for the reception, which we had been busy setting up the morning of the wedding. 

Turnkey Event Production for Surrey Wedding Reception

Celebrations moved indoors to the Lytton Strachey suite for the reception. Here, we were responsible for everything not covered by the hotel, including but not limited to the stage, sound equipment, event lighting, and dance floor hire

We started by constructing one of our live band stages before moving on to the professional PA system setup required by the professional wedding band. We installed and operated a comprehensive setup that included speakers, stage monitors, amps, subwoofers, and vocal and instrumental microphones, which we all run and monitored through a Midas digital mixing desk

Next, we erected a truss above and around the rear of the stage, which housed a few stage lighting fixtures as well as disco lights, a laser machine, and a couple of moving heads. Lastly, we started laying the dance floor, all 100+ square metres of it! The happy couple opted for our white starlit LED dance floor as it was very in keeping with the overall wedding decor theme. 

We had our sound engineer switch over from the ceremony to the reception. He was accompanied by a couple of our technicians who handled the stage and lighting respectively during proceedings.

Sound & Light Hire Company Take Care of AV Installation for Residential Training Conference at Pennyhill Park

Pennyhill Park is one of the most prestigious hotels in Surrey. Set within over 120 acres of stunning Surrey countryside, this beautiful, ivy-clad 19th Century mansion blends Michelin-star dining with 124 luxurious rooms, making it a perfect location to host delegates on a residential training conference. 

Just 45 minutes from London, our corporate client felt that Pennyhill Park was the perfect setting to train their new graduate recruits over the course of a three-day residential conference course. 

We were called in to help with some of the audio visual (AV) installations required for the presentations and training sessions. While the Pennyhill team do offer in-house equipment, we came in and enhanced the existing stock and supplied a range of specialist equipment not offered by the in-house team. 

So let’s delve into a little more detail regarding the services we rendered. 

The Sound & Light Hire Company Provide AV Installation Support to Company Hosting Residential Training Conference 

We initially started our work in one of the main meeting rooms, Sandringham, supplying and setting up a HD projector with a matching screen that was to be hooked up to the instructor’s laptop via HDMI cable. 

Given that the main room was hosting all delegates simultaneously, we also supplied and synced a couple of conference PA speakers and wireless microphones to ensure that the sound quality and volume were adequate given the number of people in attendance. For the Q&A session on the first day, we also supplied a number of wired microphones that we ran and controlled through a mixing desk. 

The training format meant delegates were often told to form teams and break out into separate rooms. This is where we came in once again to help with the AV installations required in each breakout area. 

Flat Screen TV Hire for Surrey Training Conference 

Such is the size of Pennyhill Park, there were plenty of meeting rooms that could be used as breakout spaces for their different teams to come together and work on specific tasks before reuniting in the main Sandringham room. 

Within these breakout spaces, the client instructed us to supply and install 52″ TV screens so the team leaders could coordinate collaboration between the groups. Once again, these were hooked up via HDMI to the respective team leader’s laptops. Since these meeting rooms were fairly small, we didn’t need to bother with PA speakers or mics. 

We then returned at the conclusion of the conference a few days later to dismantle everything. We had everything back in our vans and on their way to our warehouse within a couple of hours. The client thanked us for our work and had since booked us again to handle their AV requirements for their next residential training course.

Sitting on the periphery of Richmond Park, Warren House is a hidden jewel in the Kingston upon Thames landscape. This Grade II listed Victorian manor house is set amongst the secluded Coombe Estate in Kingston and boasts an illustrious past before becoming an events venue. 

The five acres of grounds surrounding this illustrious building boast beautifully landscaped gardens that were the setting for a corporate garden party. With many of last year’s Christmas parties cancelled or postponed, the company in question used a more laid back summer garden party to celebrate the hard work of the staff during this unprecedented period. 

While the Warren House team handled the catering and cocktails, the client instructed us to supply and install sound and lighting for the entertainment, which came in the form of a DJ. So, without further ado, let’s tell you a little more about the sound and lighting setup we supplied to this exclusive event.

Taking place in the lovely Warren House gardens, the party centred around an open-sided marquee. We were tasked with setting up an engaging sound and lighting setup at one end of the marquee to draw the attendees in the improvised dance floor area (it was just a section of the lawn). 

We arrived a few hours before the event to get to work. We started by setting up the PA system hire, which we slightly scaled back compared to some of our more typical installations. The idea was to have an audio system that was loud enough to fill the marquee with music but not so loud that it could no longer be possible for guests at the other end of the marquee to enjoy a conversation. 

With the speakers in place, we then set up the equipment for the DJ, which included installing a DJ booth and Pioneer digital decks for them to work with. 

Lastly, we then took care of the lighting. We used a combination of lighting systems to provide the right mood. We set up two banks of wireless uplighters to reveal and draw attention to the dancing area. Next, we set up a small truss to which we affixed a number of LED disco lights and a couple of moving head lights. 

It was a perfect mix since it wasn’t overbearing, but it was enough to provide an engaging light display to accompany the DJ playing many of the party classics.

Nestled in the Surrey Hills AONB, and underneath the shadow of Box Hill itself lies Denbies Wine Estate

Holding the title of England’s largest vineyard, this estate sprawls over 265 acres and sits on the rural outskirts of Dorking. It acts as an incredible venue for a wedding, which usually takes place in the Conservatory Atrium. However, this can be extended to include the Garden Room if you need every inch of the capacity limit (400). 

Last Summer, we were approached by a couple who, at short notice, had been let down by one of their event production suppliers due to the confusion surrounding the pandemic. As is par for the course for The Sound & Light Company, we moved a few mountains to bring everything together for their special day, and so we’d like to tell you a little more about the work we undertook on what turned out to be a wonderful summer’s day. 

The Sound & Light Hire Company Provide Event Lighting for Exclusive Rural Surrey Wedding 

Due to the nature of the venue, the event theme was very much of a rustic nature. We bore that in mind when supplying and installing the mood and decorative lighting. 

We started by draping festoon lights from the vaulted glass ceiling of the Conservatory Atrium. We then placed a few strategic wireless uplighters to emit a similar warm yellow glow. When night fell, the whole setting looked majestic, and the couple were stunned as they made their way into the room to be seated as a married couple for the first time.  

Next up, our responsibilities shifted to setting up the technical equipment for the evening entertainment.

As mentioned, once we had taken care of our decorative and atmospheric brief, it was time to focus our attention on the central aspect of our event brief, the event production for the live entertainment portion of the proceedings. 

We started by supplying and installing one of our indoor wedding stages. It was a 6m x 4m modular stage, accompanied by a truss structure that housed the stage and dance floor lighting fixtures. 

The entertainment was a mixture of a professional live wedding band and a DJ who carried the party into the early hours. With that in mind, we set up a comprehensive PA system for the live band, including d&b audiotechnik speakers, subwoofers, power amps, and fed all of the above back to one of our premier digital mixing desks

We also supplied numerous Shure wireless mics, which were also available for the weddings speeches. We then completed the set-up with a professional DJ booth, including a set of top-of-the-range Pioneer digital decks listed on the DJ’s rider request. 

Lastly, we set about installing the wedding dance floor and matching backdrops. Together with the couple, we decided that a 12m x 6m dance floor was the best option given the available footprint, and they chose our white starlit dance floor. We then completed the dance floor and stage area with a couple of matching starlit backdrops and drapes to help everyone get in the party mood.
